Komen’s April MBC Impact Series Event Focuses on the Disease’s Basics

The first conversation in Susan G. Komen’s year-long Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) Impact Series provided the MBC community with insights from Komen Scholar Ben Ho Park, MD, Ph.D., a leading researcher and clinician in breast cancer.

Dr. Park focused on the basics of MBC and what those living with the disease should know about therapy, bone health and emerging treatments.

Dr. Larissa Korde from the National Cancer Institute shared updates on clinical trials for MBC treatments and therapies.

Felicia Johnson shared her experiences living with MBC. Her de novo diagnosis in 2003 inspired her to become a patient advocate and participate in events across the country to support others living with MBC and their caregivers.

Dannielle Hodges, MSW, LCSW discussed practical ways to cope with a diagnosis of MBC to conclude the event.

A recording of the event is available at komen.org/mbcseries. After registering and logging in on the homepage, click “Agenda” and then select the “April” tab. Click the orange “Play” button to view the video.

The second MBC Impact Series Event will take place on May 24th and cover ways to improve the quality of life for persons living with MBC. Register today.
