After my late wife Jennifer’s diagnosis with metastatic breast cancer, our life and our priorities changed. Our decisions all revolved around what was best for Jen’s health. Anything that got in the way of taking care of Jennifer had to go.
As a caregiver, I did my best to stay tuned in to whatever Jen needed, emotionally and physically. During our years together, I also realized that I had to take care of myself. If I wasn’t at my best I couldn’t be there for Jennifer, and she needed me. I had to learn how to ask for help.
If you’re a caregiver and you’re experiencing these same things, you’re not alone. There are people who know what you’re feeling, and if you need help, ask for it.
