Komen® 2024 Hawaii MORE THAN PINK Walk® To Raise Money for Patient Care Center and Breakthrough Research

Susan G. Komen®, the world’s leading breast cancer organization, will hold a MORE THAN PINK Walk to raise critical funds to advance Komen’s mission and provide support to people facing breast cancer now. The Walk will be held on Sunday, October 13, at Kapiolani Park.

“Susan G. Komen is excited and honored to bring together the breast cancer community at this year’s Walk to pay tribute to and support those who have been impacted by this disease,” said Rolanda Morgan, executive director of Susan G. Komen Hawaii. “We are committed to ending breast cancer and improving the lives of those who have gone through it, but we cannot do it alone. This year’s Walk is not just an event; it’s a pivotal moment to secure vital funds that will drive forward groundbreaking research, provide direct-to-patient services and remove barriers that prevent every individual from accessing equitable care with ease. We hope you can join us as we collectively pave the way for a future free from the burden of breast cancer.”

In fiscal year 2024, Komen’s Patient Care Center provided 44,789 services to 37,970 people
living in the U.S. or a U.S. Territory working to address 56,212 barriers to care that may
otherwise prevent someone from getting the breast health care or support they need. Every
week in Hawaii, 566 people sought help and information from Komen.

Fundraising dollars help Komen provide direct support to patients with concerns about breast cancer through the Komen Patient Care Center, including: one-on-one support from a patient navigator who can provide information about breast health and breast cancer, access to high-quality care, and education about clinical trials, financial assistance and more.

The community is encouraged to participate in this important fundraiser in any way possible: to walk as individuals, in family groups, in teams of friends or workmates, and raise money through pledges of support or direct donations. Although registration for the walk is free, those raising $100 or more by September 15 will receive a gray commemorative event T-shirt. Registered survivors and those living with metastatic breast cancer will receive official event t-shirts no matter the funds raised. All T-shirts will be mailed to participants.

Those who can’t attend the walk that morning or live on a Neighbor Island can hop on the
treadmill, take to neighborhood sidewalks or the paths of a favorite local park or trail, on their
own or with family, friends, caregivers and other team members nearby.
