Susan G. Komen®, the world’s leading breast cancer organization, today announced that it will hold the Race for the Cure in Detroit Michigan on Sunday, October 2, 2022. The Race will be held at Milliken State Park and proceeds will advance Komen’s mission, fund groundbreaking research, and provide direct support to people facing breast cancer.
“For 31 years, the Komen Detroit Race for the Cure has been an opportunity for the Detroit community to rally around those battling this disease, to honor the lives we have lost, and to celebrate the lives we have saved,” said Jaye Sciullo, Executive Director. “We are excited to welcome Race participants in person this year and grateful for the opportunity to provide a community for anyone who has been impacted by breast cancer. Whether you are in treatment, celebrating survivorship, or a family member, friend or loved one, we hope you will join us in September and be part of our collective efforts to end breast cancer forever.”
The Detroit Race for the Cure will take place on October 2, 2022. This year’s event will be back in person to support breast cancer patients and their families in our community. We will also offer a virtual Walk experience for those that feel more comfortable selecting that participation option. It is our goal to be as inclusive as possible to all in Detroit.
The Power of ONE Week – a week’s worth of events to honor those who have been impacted by breast cancer – will precede the Walk on Sunday, October 2, 2022. A schedule of in-person and virtual events and additional details will be announced soon.
