Bertha Holt
Survivor
I was diagnosed in 2007 with DCIS, it was at a zero stage, because I caught it early through a regular mammogram — it was a blessing. Since then, I haven’t had a recurrence. I’ve learned about myself with this disease — it’s not a dead sentence. I had my faith, family, friends and support from other resources. I want to tell other women that they should know their body and don’t think breast cancer can’t happen to them. My motto is, “I had cancer, but cancer didn’t have me.”
