There’s Hope!

I’m a breast cancer (stage 2A, IDC with lymph node involvement, high risk). I was diagnosed in May of 2023 and recently completed 8 rounds of chemo, lumpectomy surgery with dissection and lymph removal, and 20 rounds of radiation.

My advice to someone that was recently diagnosed is breathe. Hearing you have cancer is heavy. Breathe but get to work. Lean into your faith and make sure you have a support system. This is important because appointments can be overwhelming. I used my phone for notes to remember to ask my doctor. I would also make sure you’re communicating with nurse navigator to get introduced to your care team and learn about resources available to you. This journey will seem like a lot at times so cry, scream, do whatever you need to do to get those emotions out; let someone know how you’re feeling. Join a support group and continue to advocate for yourself!! You’ve got this!
