Survivor
We did it! We fought and we beat the brakes off cancer.
November 25, 2021, I received a phone call that instantly changed my life, and I knew it would change the lives of those I love and who love me. I was at work when I received the call and, in the moment, I felt jarred, for the next 30 minutes I cried and prayed. I asked that God expels any doubt or fear that a diagnosis like mine may cause. In that moment, I decided to face this cancer head on and win with BIG FAITH, PASSIONATE POSITIVITY & OVERBEARING OPTIMISM!
After meeting with my amazing team of specialist throughout the month of November, I learned that I had been diagnosed with Triple Negative breast cancer. I started my treatment in January of 2023, endured 10 months of treatment, and I am now blessed to hold the title of “Survivor”. The journey was trying and uncomfortable, but the outcome has been very rewarding. The support I received from family and friends is unmeasurable, and the support from various organizations, healthcare providers and other breast cancer patients and survivors.
On October 21, 2022, my treatment ended, I rang the bell, and to my families surprise my beautiful granddaughter, Sienna Marie, was also born on that day. Our little blessing decided to make an early entrance into the world, as her original due date was November 14, 2022. God blessed my family in so many ways on that day, and it will forever be etched in my heart.
This year, on the 1-year anniversary of me ringing the bell & my granddaughter’s 1-year old birthday, I, along with my family, friends and other survivors and supporters will participate in the Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Race/Walk in the Dallas, Texas area.
I’ve participated in the walk for several years in support of others. My relationship with the Susan G. Komen foundation has come full circle and I will continue to promote and support the organization. There’s no getting around cancer, let’s continue to work together to get through it.
Let’s go team, “Sassy’s Superheroes” !
