You are never prepared for the news that you have breast cancer. Little did I know when I signed up for the Susan G. Komen walk last October in Knoxville to support my sister-in-law, that I would receive a breast cancer diagnosis a month later. I have no family history of breast cancer and was in shock when I received my doctor’s call. It was my son’s birthday so I will never forget the date. My family has been so supportive and my sister-in-law went with me to my appointment with the surgeon. After a lumpectomy and radiation, I am cancer free and appreciating life more each day. I have been truly blessed!
