Cancer before 40

In January of 23 I felt a lump in my left armpit. After a visit with my doctor I was sent for a mammogram and ultra sound. The lump turned out to be a normal lymph node but the mammogram detected cancer in my right breast. After a double mastectomy at the age of 38 it was determined my cancer had already spread to my lymph node. If I had not been proactive with my health I would have been in a way worse situation when I turned 40 last month and should have gotten my first mammogram.

I had a double mastectomy, 8 rounds of chemo, 28 rounds of proton therapy, my ovaries removed, and DIEP flap reconstruction all before the age of 40. Know your body and do monthly self exams.
