It’s all happened very quickly. Three months ago, I found the tumor in my left breast. I was shocked by its size (pathology gave it a 5.5). Within a week, I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma and speeding to Boston for a second opinion and the ensuing mastectomy. I’m simply amazed at how quickly so much of my day-to-day reality has changed. It’s strange to say, but I have accepted this as a part of my life. The scary parts have been made easier by my doctors’ kindness and skill. As I begin chemotherapy, I am so grateful for my loving friends who have checked in with me constantly. I believe that everything will be ok if I just take it one day at a time.
