I went in for my annual mammogram in 1998. The radiologist said, they saw something suspicious on my films. I took films to a well known surgeon. He said, “nothing to worry about….just some cyst!”
I went back for my annual mammogram in 1999. The radiologist said, “didn’t you have this taken care of?” I said, surgeon said, “just cysts!” There was complete silence in the room! I was told to get a 2nd opinion asap!
I went back to my surgeon’s partner and he did a needle aspiration which came back inconclusive.
So…a year later, I had a biopsy, which showed triple negative breast cancer. I had a lumpectomy and 17 lymph nodes removed from right arm. Then came chemotherapy and radiation.
I have been a SURVIVOR since 1999!!! Unfortunately, my daughter got Breast Cancer at age 34. My daughter and myself are brca negative!!
